Goodness Village

What is Goodness Village?

Goodness Village is a master-planned, 28-unit tiny home village, developed on acreage provided by CrossWinds Church in Livermore. The Village offers affordable, permanent, and supportive housing for previously unhoused neighbors residing in the Tri-Valley. The Village includes an onsite vocational program, mental health support, substance use services, and case management.

How are we different from other programs addressing homelessness?

Community

We believe the primary cause of homelessness to be the catastrophic loss of family support. With that in mind, we seek to build a supportive community through relationships amongst our residents by creating a safe, healthy living environment and onsite supportive staff offering vocational training, substance use services, mental health support and case management. We also reintegrate the residents into the larger community by partnering our residents with a mentor who shares the same passion, and will help the resident develop their skill or craft to use to their full potential - whether for financial or personal gain.

Permanence

Goodness Village is permanent housing for individuals who were previously identified as chronically homeless. This permanence allows a resident to transition from survival mode to productive contributors to the community. Ultimately, permanence offers a place for healing and growth.

How are we doing this?

Phase One (currently in development):

1. 28 tiny homes.

2. A two-bedroom home for community kitchen and laundry, case management, vocational services and community engagement.

3. A garden for on-site cooking, vocational training, and long term program sustainability accomplished through selling goods at local farmers markets and a pumpkin patch open to the Tri-Valley starting next Fall.

4. Walking trails.

Phase Two (not yet funded):

1. A community BBQ pavilion that provides a space for residents to gather, supportive services to be offered, and culinary vocational training.

2. A larger laundry facility consisting of three washer/dryer sets to serve all 28 residents of Goodness Village.

3. A makers market for creating and selling resident-made art and crafts.

How can you help?

1. Volunteer

Do you have a unique passion or skill set? Do you see yourself as a mentor or would you like to bring a group out for volunteer day? We need you.

2. Donate

We need tangible items for the homes, for the vocational training programs, and for the staff offices. We also need a van - we are located a good distance from grocery stores and medical treatment, and we need to be able to transport residents to these resources.

3. Give

We need funding for Phase 2. We are quickly going to outgrow the two-bedroom home where we will be creating community for the residents. We are in desperate need to start construction on the BBQ pavilion and larger laundry room. The total cost for these two important program components is $250,000.
