SUNDAY SERVICES
9am | 11am | 6pm

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 15 – Bone Apple Tea
Isn’t it true that most of us don’t know what to do when someone around us is going through a tough time? We’ve all been there, haven’t we? There’s nobody on earth who can make everything okay for a mother who has lost her child, or for a man whose wife was diagnosed with cancer. And doing something to help? Well, that can be even harder. Figuring out what to do and what to say may be difficult, but by the end of this series, we're going to learn how to do both. And it won’t be hard.

How to Study and Interpret the Bible...with Steve Gerali
Two Nights | Thursday and Friday, September 26 and 27 | 6:30 - 8:30pm | $50
Taught by Steve Gerali

The Bible is a vast collection of literature and genres spanning 66 books and covering a period of 4,000 years. It holds the treasures of our faith and is our authority for faith and practice. But how do you even begin to study your Bible? What are the guiding principles? Are the rules for interpreting narrative any different from parables and apocalyptic literature? How do you understand prophecy? The prospect of interpreting the Bible might sound intimidating but the act of interpretation is as common as communications itself. We do it all the time as we interpret the information that bombards us on a daily basis!
In this class, Steve Gerali will help us look at the guidelines for interpreting the Biblical text, including the role of the Holy Spirit in the interpretive process. Participants will gain a working knowledge of interpretive tools and learn how to interpret the Bible for themselves.
If you're interested in being part of this class, you can register here, or you can contact Jodie Tey with any questions you may have!

Kairos Torch Weekend Retreat
October 25 - 27

The Kairos Torch program is a unique opportunity for individuals to minister to youth who are incarcerated. The Torch experience begins with a weekend retreat in a youth detention center or correctional facility for youth ages 25 and under. The mission is to engage their reasoning skills in seeking balance for their lives. A Kairos Torch Weekend creates a safe place for the youthful offender to realize their God-given potential through the mentoring of a mature, Christian volunteer. Torch is always looking for people who are interested in mentoring these youth and who are willing to pray for this ministry. If you are interested in helping with this ministry or event, please contact Tom & Jo Chapman.

Couples Back Packing Trip (Community Life)
Friday October 11 - Sunday October 13 | Point Reyes

You and your significant other are invited to join us for our latest outdoor adventure! We are hosting a couples backpacking trip to Pt. Reyes, where we will connect with each other in the beauty of the California coast. We'll hike along a mild two mile trail to our location where we'll spend the weekend enjoying the beach. Not a backpacker? Don't worry– we have equipment to share if you don't have what you need! If you plan on joining us, or just have questions about this trip, email Carole Taylor or give us a call at 925.560.3800 x 116.

Elder Candidates – Angela Argiros
We are currently in the process of adding Angela Argiros to our Board of Elders. Our church bylaws state that we should bring the name of the prospective elder before the church and give a 30-day opportunity to the people of CrossWinds to show cause as to why one might not be qualified to serve. Consistent with Matthew 18:15 and Matthew 5:24, any active person in the church who feels they have "cause" should first express their concern to the prospective elder and then must also express their concern to someone on the current Board of Elders for consideration.

Job Opportunity - Event Coordinator
Do you love coordinating events? We are hiring a part-time event coordinator here at CrossWinds! This person should be friendly, well-organized and excited about increasing the number of events that happen on the church campus. The Event Coordinator is responsible for publicizing rental space at the church, meeting with interested renters, coordinating the details of an event from start to finish, and being present during the event. If interested, please send resumes here.

Frontline Ministry
Every Sunday | Every Service
So much of what happens here on a Sunday or in our ministries during the week is only possible because of our incredible volunteers. Luckily, there are a few opportunities to serve on our team opening up now, and we’re hoping you might take advantage of them!
We’re looking for people who would want to be trained to make espresso drinks at our cafe kiosk, or brew coffee on our coffee team. We need ushers who want to greet people and help them find their spot, medical volunteers who can help maintain a safe environment here at CrossWinds, and even security team members who can keep an eye on what’s happening at our facilities during our services.
We would love to help you get connected into one of these teams to not only provide a valuable service, but also to make some really great connections with others. Visit the Information Kiosk after any service, or contact Matt VanGent for more info!

Form Your Own Small Group
Maybe you have connections with people at work or in your neighborhood. Maybe you serve with people on Sunday mornings that have a lot in common with you. Maybe you’d like to have deeper community with people you’ve met at church events. You don’t have to wait for a group to form, you can do that with people you already know. Head to the Community Life page on our website and click on the Interested in Forming Your Own Group button to learn more.
