John Merritt
Senior & Founding Pastor

John has a Masters of Divinity from Bethel Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.  He has been married to Debbie since 1974 and they have three grown children, Aaron, Nathan, and Julia.  John's passion is to live God's abundant, optimal life to the fullest, and to assist people in discovering this life through a vital relationship with God.

"I'll never forget the day CrossWinds Church was born back in November of 1988. No one on the leadership team really knew what to expect as the church opened its doors for the first time. But as nearly 300 people showed up to check out this new church, well, we all knew that God's hand was in this. And I've never doubted that since."

Jim Hudson
Executive Pastor

Jim came to CrossWinds in 2005 as Executive Pastor and considers it a privilege to serve alongside a team of people who have a great passion for Christ and desire people to realize their full purpose and potential in Him, as well as a place where seekers can come and discover the incredibly positive, surprising good news of Jesus Christ.

"My greatest hope as I lead the staff of
CrossWinds Church is that people would feel empowered to have significant and successful ministries that bear abundant amounts of fruit, both individually and collectively as a church team.  In John 15:8, Jesus says to his disciples, 'This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.'"

Carole Taylor
Community Life Pastor

Carole has been in ministry at CrossWinds for over 18 years and has been on staff for 11 years. As a Community Life Pastor she oversees the Counseling Department, Financial Ministry, Care Ministry, and Community Life events. She is married to John and is the proud parent of three grown children, Jason, Kevin, and Derrick.

"Helping others feel a sense of belonging has always been important to me.  Community Life is all about that and my role as Pastor allows me to help people connect to others in our community.  My passion is fulfilled by seeing this happen week after week through a variety of venues here at CWC."

Chris Coli
Associate Teaching Pastor

Chris joined the CrossWinds staff as the Associate Teaching Pastor in January 2008.  Originally from the Chicago area, he double majored in Psychology and Theology at Wheaton College.  He then went on to complete his Masters of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary.  He has been married to Andrea since 1998 and has two wonderful daughters, Quinn and Kennedy.  With a passion for teaching and a background in Creative Arts ministry, Chris has a heart to teach God’s Word creatively.  His desire is to consistently present biblical truth in a way that inspires people to new depths of faith and action.

Jodie Tey
Community Life Pastor

Jodie Tey has been serving as a Community Life Pastor for the past five years.  Her primary roles include providing pastoral care to families, as well as conducting leadership training and formulating volunteer development strategies.  Jodie originally started in ministry (16 years ago) as a youth and young adult pastor, serving in several Asian churches throughout the Bay Area.  Jodie's love for study has led to an MDiv degree from Golden Gate Seminary and she is currently working on her Doctor of Ministry degree at fuller Seminary.  Jodie has been married to her husband, Ernesto, for four years.  They have one son, Ernesto Antonio, who is almost two years-old.

Kevin Hedges
Music Pastor/Program Director

Kevin has been on the CrossWinds staff since March 1999. He is the Music Pastor and Program Director, overseeing production of the weekend services. He and his wife Mindy have one daughter, Grace.

"What could be more fun than using every creative expression available to give honor and glory to our Creator, Lord and Savior?   It’s like being in 2nd grade art class and making pottery or crayon pictures for your parents every day – without the milk and cookies.   For the glory of God, nothing has been more fulfilling for me than telling His story as creatively, in as many ways, as many times as my little brain can fathom."
Marc Griffiths
Children's Ministry Pastor

Marc has been serving on staff since 2004.  He has four children:  Lee, Kayla, Renee, and Joel - fantastic kids!  They are originally from New Zealand and have been living in the U.S. since 2003.  Marc loves what God is doing in our midst here at CrossWinds, and the lives that have been impacted for the Kingdom.  He believes that God has placed each child at this point in history for such a time as this - that each one of them would know that God has a plan and a purpose for their lives and that they can make a difference - here and now!  Our mission is to "partner with parents in laying a spiritual foundation in the lives of their children."  We serve an amazing God and feel blessed to partner with him in impacting the lives of this generation of children.

Mike Mason
Student Ministries Pastor

Mike has served on the CrossWinds staff team since May of 2006.  He is a 20 year student ministries veteran and holds degrees in Psychology and Christian Education from the University of South Florida and Golden Gate Seminary respectively.  Mike has been married to Shelby since 1991, and they are the proud “parents” of two very spoiled Boxer dogs.  He is also loves sports and coaching and is a rabid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.

Having seen countless student ministry trends come and go, Mike’s passion is to help train and empower a generation of youth workers who will unswervingly meet students on their own turf, win the right to be heard, love kids unconditionally, and challenge them to embrace a Christian faith based on authenticity and compassion.  Since most adolescents will likely never be in a richer, more diverse mission environment than the public school system, student ministries should provide a “front door” to the Christian faith that is attractive to as many students as possible.  Mike also strongly believes that teenagers are growing up far too fast and that they are far too busy, and consequently he contends that student ministries should never apologize for being fun!

“To introduce students to faith in Christ and challenge them to grow deeper, we must create an attractive, safe environment that provides GOOD TIMES and GREAT MEMORIES.  Only then can we place the message of Christ into a context they will understand.”
