Mark denBroeder, Licensed Psychologist
PhD, Educational Psychology (1975) UC Santa Barbara

Mark works with individuals, adolescents and adults, and couples. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at Trinity College, Illinois, from 1975 to 1983, and later was chair of psychology and director of counseling services at Simpson College. He enjoys teaching Counseling, Integration of Psychology and Christian Spirituality, and the True Self. Mark has been associated with CrossWinds Counseling staff since 1997.

Counseling Specialty Areas: Mark works with anxiety, depression, relationship problems and behavioral disorders. He specializes in helping those who suffer from abuse and emotional trauma. He assists people seeking greater meaning, wholeness and a truer sense of personhood.

Patti Diaz, Counselor
MS, Counseling (1992) CSU Hayward; BS, Applied Behavioral Sciences (1979) UC Davis

Patti works with individuals, couples, and families, as well as pre-teens, teens and adults. She returns to CrossWinds Counseling, having counseled here from 1995-2000. Patti is also an Adjunct Counselor at Chabot College, providing personal counseling, academic and career advising. Patti was a counselor at Valley Christian Counseling (1990-96), and has co-led workshops on Divorce Recovery, led support groups and seminars on topics including codependency, self-esteem, communication, singles' issues, and forgiveness.

Counseling Specialty areas: premarital and couples counseling, career and mid-life transitions, grief counseling (terminal illness, suicide and homicide survivors), depression, anxiety, sexual identity,
addiction and recovery issues, and post-abortion healing.

Patti has fifteen years' ministry experience in leading groups/workshops, and as an adjunct counselor at Chabot College.

Lisa Dosa, Counselor
MS, Counseling (1991) California State University, Hayward


Lisa works with children, parents, families and individuals. Prior to working at CrossWinds, Lisa worked as an elementary and middle school counselor. She has led groups for women on body image and for women who have been sexually abused as children. She has been a counselor at Crosswinds since 1997.

Counseling Specialty Areas: Counseling with children and adolescents (self esteem, behavioral problems, trauma), women's issues (self esteem, body image, sexual abuse), transitions, and with people with learning disabilities. She also works to help people overcome depression and manage anxiety.

Gail Eich, Marriage Family Therapist

MS Counseling Psychology (1999) California State University, Hayward


Gail works with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples and family counseling. Previous related work experience includes Coordinator of the CrossWinds Step One Recovery Program, recovery group leader, counseling staff at a private university, and counselor at a community mental health center. Gail has been on staff at CrossWinds since 1999.

Counseling Specialty Areas: Working with women, couples, adolescents, and groups. Specialized areas of interest include anxiety, depression, life transitions, family changes and conflicts, codependency, and premarital counseling.

Jim Matthews, MTS, Pastoral Counselor, Step One Support Groups Director
MTS, Pastoral Theology, New College, Berkeley


Jim has spent 32 years in Christian ministry.  For fourteen years he  worked in Christian Recovery Ministry and Pastoral Counseling.  His Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree is in Pastoral Theology from New College, Berkeley.  He has lectured in a Lay Counseling Program for about 20 years with Dr. Bert Norcross of Brentwood.  He has been a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, National Association for Christians in Recovery and a member of Spiritual Directors International.  He has been married to Connie for 34 years, has three married children, 7 grandchildren and has attended CrossWinds since 1992.

Specialty Areas:  Recovery issues, men's concerns, surviving spiritual abuse, couple's counseling, grief and loss and integrating faith and well-being.

Randall C. Wyatt, Licensed Psychologist
PhD, Clinical Psychology (1989) California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco

Randy works with individuals, couples and families.  He has over 20 years experience practicing psychotherapy and supervising counselors.  Randy has been on CrossWinds staff since 2000.  You may contact him directly with questions via email, or call the office.

Counseling Specialty Areas: Life transitions, couples/marital counseling, coping with trauma and loss, spirituality and meaning, stress management, recovery from physical injuries, victims of crime, work stress, and sports psychology.
