small groups FAQ
WHAT IS A SMALL GROUP?
A Small Group is a home gathering made up of 8-16 people who meet weekly to share, study and support one another. A trained leader and host lead each group. An average meeting lasts for an hour and a half. Some Small Groups meet in homes, and others meet here at CrossWinds.
HOW IMPORTANT ARE SMALL GROUPS?
At CrossWinds Church, we believe that God has designed us to be in community with each other. Small Groups at CrossWinds are where you will grow in your relationship with God, experience spiritual growth, find a sense of belonging, and create meaningful and lasting friendships.
WHEN AND WHERE DO THEY MEET?
Small Groups meet on various nights of the week in homes throughout the Tri-Valley area. The daytime groups meeting times vary.
WHAT WILL WE STUDY?
The focus of each Small Group may vary. Some of our groups focus on our Sermon-Based material, where you will spend your time digging a little deeper into the content of each weeks sermon. Other groups may read through devotional Bible studies, or be centered around a specific hobby or activity.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
The majority of Small Groups are completely free. Some of our activity and hobby based groups charge a nominal fee.
HOW DO I CHOOSE A GROUP?
When selecting a group, we strongly recommend you choose a group based on its Lifestage and topic, rather than its location. Over the years, we've found that groups do best when members share a common Lifestage and other interests with their leaders, hosts, and other group members. In the end, you'll find it's worth the drive!
Our groups are divided in the following Lifestages: Young Adults (20/30 somethings) Mixed Adults (typically 30 years and up, single or married, with or without kids). Mixed Singles. Prime Timers (50+ and Empty Nesters). Remember, these Lifestage are intentionally kept fuzzy and are meant to help you self-select an appropriate group for you. They are not intended to box you in. We also have groups for Men and Women separately.
